Free Invoice Template for Freelancers (PDF, No Signup)
A free invoice template built for freelancers: what to include, payment terms that get you paid faster, and a fill-in generator that exports PDF.
What a freelancer invoice must include
- Your name or business name, email and address
- Client name and billing contact
- A unique invoice number (e.g. INV-2026-014)
- Issue date and due date
- Itemized services: description, hours or quantity, rate
- Subtotal, tax (if you charge it) and total
- How to pay: bank transfer, PayPal, Wise, card link
Payment terms that get you paid faster
"Net 14" gets paid faster than "Net 30" for most small clients. State the exact due date, not just the term. Add a short line like "Late payments over 30 days incur a 1.5% monthly fee" only if your contract allows it. Send the invoice the day the work is delivered, while the value is fresh.
Hourly vs. project invoices
For hourly work, list each task with hours × rate so the client can see where time went. For fixed-price projects, list milestones (e.g. "Design phase – 50%"). Either way, one line per deliverable reduces questions and delays.
